INT. COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE - DAY
Fluorescents. A number on the wall reads 47. MARIANNE, 40s, holds a folder against her coat. The clerk, DENNIS, doesn't look up from the stamp.
DENNIS
Marriage license is the blue form. Dissolution is the white one.
MARIANNE
I need both.
…Dennis says the marriage license is the blue form…

words a minute, typing on a phone
~150
words a minute, speaking
A rough comparison. Your ideas move at talking speed; now your pages can too.
How it works
From a sentence in your head to a page you can share.
01
Talk the scene.
Dictate a screenplay the way you’d tell it. You can type a scene too. Words land where the cursor is. Tap the page while you talk, and the next words land there.

One tap from the library to the mic.
Brainstorm
Talk the scene through. Get notes. Lay out the page.
Alone or with the room. BetterScript writes notes from what was said, then can lay out a scene in the room’s words only. It does not invent lines.

Privacy
Your voice stays yours.
- Live audio is streamed to turn speech into text and isn’t kept after the session.
- Offline takes sit briefly on our servers, then are deleted.
- Only the text — never the audio — is used to format the script.
- Recordings stay on your phone. Delete a take, or everything, anytime.
Questions writers actually ask.
Does BetterScript write the scene for me?
No. You talk. BetterScript formats what you said as a screenplay. Brainstorm notes and scene layouts use only what was said in the room. It does not invent the story.
What do Keep, Continue, and Discard do?
When you tap Done, Keep adds what you said to the scene, Continue records more on the same take, and Discard removes it and puts the page back.
What is the play button on a scene?
It opens every take for that scene. Play one, or open it to read the formatted page or the transcript.
What is Brainstorm?
A room session on a scene. Talk it through alone or with others. You get notes, can lay out a scene from the room’s words, and add those lines where they fit. Your existing lines stay until you choose to add it.
What happens to my voice while I dictate?
Your audio is streamed securely to turn speech into text as you talk. It isn’t kept after your session ends.
What if I record without a connection?
The take is saved on your phone. When you’re back online it’s held briefly on our secure servers to be transcribed, then deleted as soon as your transcript is ready — or if transcription fails.
Is my audio used to format my script?
No. Only the transcript text is used to lay out your scene as a screenplay — never your audio.
Can I delete my recordings?
Yes. Recordings stay on your phone. Delete any single take, every recording on this phone, or all your data from Settings.
What counts as a minute?
Time spent dictating or in Brainstorm. Each take is counted to the second when you stop recording. Importing and typing do not use minutes. Brainstorm time uses the same minutes as dictation.
What do I get for free?
20 minutes every month, about four scenes. They reset monthly.
How does the free trial work?
Both paid plans include 7 days free with 30 minutes, once. Cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged. Once it renews you get 200 minutes every month.
Do pack minutes expire?
Never. Pack minutes are used only after your monthly minutes run out.
What happens when I run out?
The take you’re recording stops and is saved. Then you can wait for your minutes to renew, become a member, or add a minute pack.
How do I get my script out?
Open a script and export it as a PDF or a Fountain file for Final Draft, Highland, WriterDuet, and other screenwriting apps.
Can I fix a line after recording?
Yes. Review each take before you keep it, and edit any line on the page afterwards.
Which languages are supported?
English, French and Spanish, for the app, dictation and formatting.
